Parabens – A preservative
– Has been found in breast tumours
Phthalates – Used in cosmetics and plastics, often listed as a fragrance

Benzoyl peroxide – Used in acne treatments
– Linked to tumour growth and a known irritant
Triclosan – A pesticide – antibacterial (non-specific)
– Hormone disruptor
Resorcinol – Ingredient found in bleach (and in hair dyes)
– Irritant plus disrupts thyroid function
Hydroquinone – Skin lightener by decreasing melatonin
– Weakens elastin and collagen
Petroleum – Called petrolatum, xylene, toluene, mineral oil, liquid paraffin
– Listed by WHO and EPA as probable carcinogen
Methylisothiazolinone – Antibacterial + preservative
– Neurotoxic
Oxybenzone – Used in sunscreen
– Skin irritant + allergen, hormone disruptor and causes low birth weight
